Liberty Evangelical Free Church
Honoring God by making followers of Jesus Christ
Prayer
"Devote yourselves to prayer ..." (Colossians 4:2a). Prayer is the foundation of everything we do here at Liberty Evangelical Free Church. We believe that prayer involves God in our activities in a way that He would not otherwise be involved. We pray not to get our will accomplished in heaven but to get God's will accomplished here on earth. Prayer connects us to God. It affords us the opportunity to worship Him, to express our love and appreciation for who He is and what He has done. It also invites His involvement in our lives and world. We pray for ourselves, our families, our church, our community, our nation and our world. Sunday Morning Prayer Time
Our Sunday Morning Prayer Time takes place from 9:30 to 9:55 am. We begin this time with a brief devotional followed by praying. We open our prayer with Adoration and Thanksgiving (expressing our love, praise and gratitude to God). We follow with Confession (confessing our personal, church, national or human-race sin). Then we spend some time in Supplication (requesting God to work among us so as to advance his kingdom and bring revival). We closing with the Lord's Prayer. We pray in a 'conversational prayer' or 'popcorn prayer' style. Characteristics of this style are:
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our treaspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
